Ham and Onion Rolls


Ham and onion rolls

4 sheets of Mountain Bread™
1 onion, diced
125gm ham, diced
½ wok oil
1 hard boiled egg, diced
2 tbsp butter
⅓ cup stock
⅓ cup flour
⅓ cup milk
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
½ tsp sugar

1  Shallow fry the onion in a little oil and set aside.

2  Melt the butter in a hot wok, then remove the wok from the heat. Sift in the flour and stir for 1 minute. Return to the heat, and slowly add the stock, the milk and the salt, pepper and sugar stirring constantly, and cook into a smooth batter. Gradually add in all the other ingredients and mix thoroughly to form the filling.  Set aside to cool.

3  Put 2 tablespoons of filling at one end of each slice of Mountain Bread™, leaving 1½ cm from each edge.   Fold the edges over and roll up.  Repeat for each slice of bread.

4  Bring the oil to the boil and deep fry the ham rolls until golden brown. Drain on absorbent kitchen paper and serve hot.
